Skewed – Audio Book

Skewed: Decoding media bias

By Caryn Franklin MBE & Professor Keon West, featuring special guests. Published exclusively in audiobook format by WFH Original (W.F. Howes). All references and citations for this audio book included below.

This book has been 5 years in the making. Four in gestation as a treatise on objectification and gender bias and searching for a publisher. Now, since hooking up with my friend Professor Keon West, it's a fuller, broader read to take in race, age, appearance gender and non binary identity.

The book is audio, hence the picture of Keon and I at the mic.

We both had a lot of fun creating it and we hope you will enjoy the listen. Packed with studies, personal reports and observations, confessions and both of us coming clean about our biases, we have interrogated bias and our lazy brains. Why is it we rely on stereotypes? How can we dismantle our biases? What would the world look like if we prioritised vigilance and inclusivity over heuristics (the way things have always been) and familiarity?

So as not to bore everyone with our study references in the audio book itself, we have posted them here. Knock yourself out!
