Reture – a return to values

As analysts debate the future of heavyweight fashion brands like Arcadia and Debenhams, now sinking under the weight of their 'bricks and mortar' manacles; smaller, leaner, businesses are surfacing.

In to the light, RETURE, announces a digital platform which connects clients to a global network of world class fashion designers. Through this timely portal we can upcycle our underused garments into unique treasures.

Co-founded by Nina Van Volkinburg, PhD with a background in fashion journalism, technologist Robin Williamson, PhD and James Williamson computer science engineer, Reture effortlessly delivers a new solution for modern-day consumers now voting with their purse for a more ethical fashion process.

And what's not to like about a set up that proudly positions itself as pro-social, anti-landfill and person-centred? Those of you who follow my support for recycling and 'not buying new'  won't be surprised at my excitement here.

Through Reture, designers and their clients can propel a fashion offer that neatly crosses the floor to become part of the solution; a clarion call for conscious consumption and an adventure in the sensual and the sensible.

Take your original garment to any number of designers currently working with Reture and choose a service

REPURPOSE To transform a garment for a different purpose from the one that was originally intended. Scarves into a dress? Denim jeans into a Denim jacket? The possibilities are endless.

CREATIVE LINING To cover the inside of a garment with added material (e.g. a blazer or a skirt). Why not line your favourite blazer with a colourful silk shirt (that no longer fits!).

DYE To add or change the colour of a garment. Perhaps revive a faded, washed out dress with a splash of colour?

EMBELLISHMENTS To add custom details to a garment including patchwork and crochet additions. Personality can be added to wardrobe staples in many forms!

EMBROIDERY AND BEADING To decorate a garment by sewing patterns on it with thread and/or beads and sequence.

PAINT To paint (or draw) onto a garment (e.g. graffiti). Add a message or motif to your garments, for a unique take on customisation.

Now decide on a process and take home and brand new, just for you a RETURE Result. Happy days people, Happy days.
